Een drietal jaar geleden nam ik opnieuw de boeken van Gregory Bateson vast. Ze stonden al jaren onaangeroerd op mijn boekenplank. Aanleiding om ze van onder het stof te halen, was de voorbereiding van een workshop waarbij ik – samen met mijn systemische leermeester Gerrit Loots – de ideeën van Bateson opnieuw in de kijker wilde plaatsen. Terwijl ik bladerde door de boeken vol met markeringen die ik twintig jaar geleden maakte, werd ik net zoals destijds instant geprikkeld … Ik dook er ‘als vanzelf’ weer in, herlas en zocht naar mensen waarmee ik ideeën kon uitwisselen. Dat laatste mondde uit in de podcastreeks Het Bateson-café (Sermijn, 2023-2025). (...)
